Mortise locks are a central component of door locking systems and are inserted directly into the door leaf. Depending on the door and the desired locking function, different versions such as warded, profile cylinder, or WC mortise locks are used.

BB mortise locks with warded keys are frequently used for suitable interior doors, while profile cylinder (PZW) versions are designed for use with a matching profile cylinder. WC mortise locks, on the other hand, are used for corresponding bathroom and toilet doors. Always ensure you choose the type of lock required for your existing door. When replacing a mortise lock, the technical dimensions are especially important. The backset describes the distance from the front edge of the forend to the center of the follower or the locking axis. The distance between the follower and the locking mechanism must also match the existing door hardware. Therefore, carefully compare the dimensions of the old lock with the technical specifications of the new mortise lock.
